Ring/Jewelry Insurance

Trying to get my wife 2m yen engagement ring insured cause she’s scared to wear it even though she picked it out. We bought it in the US and have the appraisal and all other certificates. Tried to search about jewelry insurance and the only thing that comes up is like if your house burns down or floods or stuff like that

Any way to do this in JP or do I gotta get insured in US?

  1. Normal renters or homeowners insurance will cover a fair amount of jewelry from losses including theft. If you need more than that then check into valuable property insurance. I don’t know about Japanese insurers but there are US companies that offer this coverage worldwide. Also, Japan is a very safe country, so if your fiancé/wife isn’t in sketch situations or areas, don’t sweat it too much. Also, you don’t have to wear expensive jewelry everywhere… maybe some people like to but other marriages last just fine with what amounts to cracker jack rings. Including multimillionaire’s (Stephen King bought his wife’s ring before he had their first bestseller and they still wear those).
