For both of my kids, I notified my employer 2 months before my wife’s due date. I took parental leave of 4 months for my older one and 6 months for my younger one. There was option to take longer leave, up to 1 year. But I decided not to because for the aditional time I would receive money from shakai hoken only, which is very low.
Not sure what you mean by maternity options. Could you please clarify?
As for when I gave notice, I’m pregnant with twins, which have more risks and a higher chance of hospitalization than singleton pregnancies, so I notified my boss a few weeks after I found out. I didn’t want them to be blindsided with a staffing issue.
Honestly, you should be letting your employer know as soon as possible. Once you have confirmed pregnancy and established a delivery date at your go to clinic.
Many companies have policies in place that let you take greavance leave if you have a miscarriage past a certain date, for example. Check your workplace rules and act accordingly.
I work freelance so I have no answer to your question, but Iv seen you in the pregnant subs and just wanted to say Hey! We’re close in due dates 🙂 half way yay!
After 1st trimester. Before, in office, you would show so you have to tell anyway. If remote, I’ll wait until 3rd trimester to give the company time to prepare for your successor. But if you trust your boss or your company, tell as soon as possible.
