I tried to sign up for the app, and put in my name. It gets rejected and my account becomes locked. I go to bank and they spend over an hour talking to various superiors about what to do. (Why is this always the goddam case)
Apparently when entering my name in Katakana i shouldn’t use the romaji to Japanese keyboard , it doesn’t register in the app. I have to use the Japanese kana keyboard. It doesn’t make much sense.
Anyways I then had to spend another 30 minutes filling out a document so they could unlock my account. She then had to have her superior check the form.
She said that they will call me when it is unlocked.
30 minutes later she called and said there will be no phone call and the account will be unlocked later in the evening.
Maybe I should change to a Japanese name….

77 bank?
Get a new bank. 77 is absolutely terrible in all ways. Incredibly bad customer service. I have had the misfortune of dealing with them for 23 years…
I assume you need 77 bank for your work pay.
I’d let that account still be your work account, but transfer or withdraw all the money and use another bank for day to day and app stuff.
I’m constantly getting emails from 77 about their changes to all their internet banking things. It seems like a real pain if there was ever a problem.
