American/Foreign Candy

As Christmas is coming up, I’m looking for a snack/candy that I can hand out to my class of 40 students. I know American candy is a little hard to come by, but any suggestions on where I can buy it online?

It doesn’t have to be something Japan doesn’t sell at all, I just want something the kids will like.

  1. Kaldi has huge bags of Christmas themed candies. My Japanese wife doles them out yearly with great success.

  2. Sometimes Amazon Japan sells them at not ridiculous prices. Like I sometimes import rice Krispy treats and it takes only a couple of weeks to arrive. And I think it comes out to like… $0.50 per rice Krispy or something like that.

You can also check out stores like Kaldi or Jupiter.

  3. I don’t have personal experience, but Costco may have options? (I feel like the only American who has never had a membership, so I hosnestly don’t know what’s available)

  4. Get them to make a little origami box out of Christmas paper first and then they can fill it with some Christmas candies from Kaldi that are piled on the desk at the front of the class. This activity works well!

  5. Candy canes blow the minds of Japanese people. Gave them to all my coworkers and some kids I saw outside of school and their reactions were hilarious.

  6. I sure hope you’ve gotten permission from your school and company… otherwise ooooohhhhh boy.

  7. Donki’s been selling a lot of US cereal/candy lately. (I never thought I’d see Gobstoppers for sale here…)

  8. Could you ask someone to send something from home? Otherwise online (Amazon or iherb) is probably your best bet.

  9. I always handed out American candy to my students at a private junior high school I use to work after my trips home .. handing it out wasn’t a problem but the students didn’t like it … guess too sweet …

I would guess Costco.. Donkiyote.. or Jupiter

  10. Reese’s peanut butter cups or sour gummy worms.

Christmas theme candy : I would go with something peppermint but you might get a mixed reaction.
