Is there anything to be aware of before purchasing home electronics from one of the store in kakaku?

I used to get things in batch from the big chain stores and haggle for discounts to at least match kakaku’s price, but this time thinking to get things directly from one of the lowest price and high reps online store from kakaku lists, specifically 住の森 Sumai no Mori.

Is there anything to be aware of that you guys experienced before, such as warranty or such? To be exact I’m getting 3 aircons and various other home electronics.

Thank you!

  1. We’ve bought a couple of things through kakaku.com. The links there went through to regular retailers where we made the purchases. Just check the details on the seller.

  2. If you buy from K’s, the warranty there will probably be better than from Kakaku. I also bought 3 AC units and have had to have one serviced because some inner sensor went bad.

  3. Dealing with issues under warranty may be a bit of a hassle if the retailer has no physical presence or is located on the other side of Japan. Other than that, the deal usually outweighs such concerns.

  4. All kakaku is is a pricing aggregator, a search engine if you will that allows you to compare prices. There’s nothing special about purchasing from someone you find through kakaku.
