Moving To A New City

How much of a pain is it to move to a new place? The admin is going to be a storm right? My Number Card, Town Center visits … etc. I’m moving from the countryside. City is about 4 hours away. I can probably get Yamamoto transport to move my stuff?

Can anyone give me a brief checklist?

  1. Have you already moved?

First, go to the town center(役所) where you lived to present a notification of changed address(転居届) and other procedures.

Second, go to the town center(役所) where you are going to live or living to change the address of you number card, visa card, etc…

Third, go to the post office(郵便局) to present another notification of changed address(転送), which will automatically redirect all your mails to your new address in the next year.

These are roughly all I can remember, and I think I don’t need to mention the utility which is a little complicated depending on the person.
