Moving boxes or packaging for disassembled furniture

Sadly, leaving Japan by the end of the month and I’m packing up my stuff and arranging a sea cargo shipment for most of my belongings. I would like to bring home a desk and a table but all the packinging options I’ve found so far are classic moving boxes in different sizes, nothing like the flat pack cartons that the disassembled furniture gets delivered with. Anyone know a place to buy that kind of packaging?

I’ve checked the boxes that the moving company is providing but they only provide “typically proportioned” moving boxes, nothing flat and >1m wide.

Alternatively, if you know a moving company that does offer atypical shaped packaging. I haven’t completely signed off with the company that I’m currently considering yet so I could change.

  1. When we left we bought out bubble wrap from all of our nearby homewares stores. They also had rolls of semi flexible cardboard.

  2. You could take a couple boxes, some scissors and tape and make boxes for your odd sized stuff.
