Sharpening scissors. Recommendations?

I have a high quality pair of scissors (zweilling).

I’m getting complaints from the partner that they’re blunt. I tried to sharpen them using the principles of knife sharpening and probably made it worse!

Any suggestions on how to sharpen or where to go to get them sharpened in Tokyo?

  1. Yes, you already ruined them by trying to sharpen them like knives. Scissors aren’t knives.

Just get a new pair from Daiso.

  2. If you can’t find a place, look up the Paul Sellers scissors sharpening/restoring guide on yootoob.

iirc, you just need a couple of passes with a file and one rub on a stone to get the burr. Watch the video to make sure.

I did it with shitty scissors and they turned out better than when I bought them.

  3. Don’t do it yourself. Sharpening knives is already hard enough as it is.

Go to a 刃物 store and ask if they can sharpen them for you. Some places may refuse but I think most would do it.
