Best option for moving within Tokyo with very little stuff

Will move from one apartment in Tokyo to another.
Will put almost all of my belongings in three big suitcases. (Don’t own furniture.)
By metro, moving would probably take me four trips back and forth. I want to avoid that.
All my stuff can fit into a car that isn’t small but it doesn’t have to be a van. (I don’t own a car)
Is my best and cheapest option taxi, Uber, a moving firm, or something else?

  1. If it would exceed one taxi then I would just send everything via Yamato or Japan Post, and take what you can via metro.

  2. Get two friends to come with you, one suitcase each. Buy them beers all evening. Problem solved.

You could of course also ship your stuff via Kuroneko, but not sure that’s the ‘cheapest’ option.

  3. With 3 big suitcases you can move with the two via train and mail the 3rd if you want? Though two suitcases in one trip and one in another wouldn’t be too bad.

I moved with suitcases a greater distance via trains. It’s difficult but not that difficult. Just try to avoid rush hour.

  4. How far is it door to door? Could you simply walk from the old place to the new?

I have done that over a distance of about 5 km, even moving some furniture, including a small refrigerator. I used a bicycle as a cart of sorts.

If you cannot afford four round-trip subway tickets in Tokyo, I really don’t think you’ll find any less expensive options.

  5. Uber app will tell you exactly how much a “large van” booking will cost one way from place A to B. Then you decide if you want to pay that, or take 4 subway trips. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t know what’s hard about this… if you can’t afford the Uber then no other option is going to be cheaper than a few subway trips – just get a day pass ticket or something.

  6. Just send them via Yamato. I’ve sent 7 boxes and 2 suitcases from Osaka to Kanagawa for less than 20k. Nobody knows how much your taxi/ Uber fare would be since we don’t really know from where and to where you are moving.
