First time getting a robot vaccum. Any model recommendation to help with household chores?

Totally a newbie in robot vaccum. Even after looking at their features comparison list I have very slight to no idea about what they do, or how efficient it will be for our household, but would like to try one with the hope that it would help with the wife’s workload.

Heard most positive feedbacks on Roborock, so probably that’s what I am getting. The thing is, there are so many models I don’t even know where to start looking. Although budget is not an issue, preferrably not to spend on overkill features.

Some general questions:

1. Can it go through both flooring and carpets (not flooring carpets) safely?

2. Can it pass through the slight sliding door bump into/out from the tatami room? Is it generally safe for tatami room btw?

3. Any Roborock model recommendation?

Thank you guys!

  1. I had a roomba and now replaced by Dyson. While Roomba is very much capable of 1 and 2. It doesn’t clean as much as stick vacuums. You still need to supplement it with a proper vacuum once a week.
The deep-seated dirt i caught after solely using just Roomba is too much, I sold it.

Roomba is good enough for hard flooring with smooth surfaces . The suction is not good enough for tatami and carpets. I had the top of the line Roomba at the time. I think it was S9+.

My neighbors also began complaining about strange bumping noises. Though or divider is concrete, concrete still vibrates.

  2. I rented one for a month to see how well it would work in my house. It worked, so I bought the thing.

I wanted to see specially how it fared with the carpet, and it worked.

  3. We have an ecovacs T9+, which does both vacuuming and mopping. We use a stick vacuum for hard to reach places and stairs, but vacuuming and mopping on average twice a week has kept the place very clean. That said we did build our house with the possibility of using a robot vacuum in the future, so there are no bumps on the floors between rooms. It can map multiple floors, but you obviously need to pick it up and move it yourself.

  4. We had an ecovacs OZMO 900 but the battery got weird so we bought and ecovacs n10 with a base station. That empties it. Saves a lot effort but I realized it’s to get you to buy their overpriced garbage bags, it’s nespresso all over again.

Wife was very concerned about the cleanliness of the time and floor when our first baby was crawling around and stressed to vacuum every night since it was hard during the day day with the baby. But now it just does it’s thing every night and we supplement it with a stick Dyson once a week.

Just as much as the vacuuming itself, just having to pick up toys and other things every night off floor to let the robot do it’s work unhindered actually helps a lot to keep place looking clean.
