I don’t care if bushiroad need to rob a bank, fire some people, take pay cuts. I’d pay Okada whatever he wants to stay in this company. The monopoly in wrestling is not good.

  1. He won’t leave and even if somehow, despite living in Japan and having a family, he was thinking about it I’m confident Bushiroad would make sure he doesn’t leave. Not giving a big contract to someone like Ospreay is logical, it wouldn’t make sense for Bushiroad to give so much money to a guy who isn’t a big enough draw to justify the cost but I’m sure even in their current situation they would get the money to keep Okada. He’s their Ace and one of the 2 biggest names that they absolutely can’t afford to lose right now.

  2. Keep up with New Japan. ‘Cause if he left, no one else could be in charge for CHAOS at this time

  3. Lmao how is it a monopoly. The fact that a worker has many viable options for big money is the opposite of a monopoly you dope.

  4. Could NJ perhaps look at this as an opportunity?

In the short term, losing your ace is never good, but if there’s a wrestling promotion that desperately needs a reset right now it’s New Japan. Look at TNA after Styles left in 2014, it struggled financially and there was a lot of management upheaval but in the long term it’s now thrieving because they now focus on creating new stars.

I was in love with NJ from 2017 – 2020, but I fell out with it post-pandemic because I got fed up with Okada eventually winning everything again. If he left, I’d argue the product gets interesting again because they know they’ll need to create new stars again. In the short term, Sanada, Takagi and Naito can carry the company while they build up Tsuji, Narita and Umino who they could present as the new musketeers. Plan for the future, and this could work in their favour.

  5. I really don’t see Okada walking away from New Japan. Maybe there is some weird frankenstein deal done that sees him miss some tours to make part time AEW appearances but I would be very surprised if his home promotion changed.

  6. I don’t think he’ll leave, but if he does hopefully it would be to aew with a similar deal to Ospreay that would let him work NJPW still. I’d prefer he stayed with NJPW.
