Have heaps of time to study – how should I spend it?

For the next month and a half I will be able to dedicate 4-6 hours a day to learning Japanese.

What would be the most effective use of my time?

I don’t really use a textbook and have been self-studying for a few years (I’d say I’m around N3 level).

Other than anki and watching netflix, I don’t use anything else to aid my learning.

Should I set aside time to write and do exercises or just focus on immersion?

  1. in order to maintain that 4-6 hours a day, try out lots of things and do what you find the most joy in!

I also did the 5-ish hours a day in the beginning and I bounced around between video games, anime/manga, grammar lessons, grammar breakdowns on youtube, etc. It was a wonderland of whatever I wanted lol.

You’re at a level where you’re bound to make progress no matter what you do. If you can’t decide, maybe test yourself and see what area you want to focus on most? Any way you go about it, the world is your oyster!

  2. If you are able, I’d focus on reading native material. The 5秒に意外な結末is a great place to start. Also, [listening.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLS4ZpYn8-o)

It’s not really studying, but you can also try and download and sign up for Kanopy. It’s free with a library card, and a lot of Japanese content is on there.
