Itinerary Help – Tokyo (8 Days)

Hi guys, my family and I will be travelling to Tokyo this Christmas for the first time, and we’d like some help with our itinerary! We’re not the most active, and we’re aware that traversing Japan takes a lot of walking, so I tried to put minimal travel between areas each day.

I’m worried that the area may be too sparse, but I’d like to make sure. Do you think we could fit a day trip to Yokohama or Hakone somewhere in here?

Aside from that, we’d like some recommendations on the following that are in the areas we’re planning on visiting (Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa, Odaiba, Akihabara, Ueno):
– Great food spots that can handle a family of 5
– Temples near the areas we’re already visiting
– Any significant tourist attractions that were missed
– Great cheap – middle costing shopping spots
– Other spots in Tokyo that you think we should visit

I tried to fit as many of the classic areas and temples as much as possible, but there’s definitely stuff that I missed.

  1. If I were you, I’d switch DisneySea to an earlier day: I understand it’s jammed on most days, and the last day of the school year (at least for public schools in our neighborhood) is on 25 December, so I would expect it to be even more jammed on 28 December.

In my opinion, Meiji Jingu and Yoyogi Park are pedestrian places that will look pretty much like any other shrine and larger green area, respectively, you run in to, and you’ll have seen one of each the day before. Perhaps switch DisneySea to an earlier day and leave your 27 December day open for a day trip to Kamakura/Enoshima or Kawagoe. (You can skip Shibuya Sky because you’ll have gone to City Hall the day before, and the Shibuya crossing is just an intersection you can look at in three minutes.)
