Hi, so I applied for a spouse visa via an immigration lawyer more than a month ago and we’re still waiting for the reply.
Our lawyer received a call last Friday from an officier, they just asked to ignore a request they sent by mistake for a paper we already provided, so I guess that means they checked my application and it is only a question of time now?
Out of experience, what do you think?
I’ve heard the immigration is busy these days, but some people still got a visa quickly depending on the case so I’m curious :
If you applied for a visa or a change visa during the second half of 2023, are you still waiting for it or how long did you wait before receiving it?
Thanks for your replies ☺️

Within a month would be fast for a work visa, much less a spouse.
Is it just me, or do people have wildly unrealistic expectations of visa processing times since Covid? I don’t remember people expecting a couple weeks turnover before, especially in Tokyo. About six weeks processing time was pretty usual in Shinagawa a few years ago, but there are constant posts now about people who haven’t heard back in a month, or who get worried if their PR takes more than 3 months.
I just renewed my work visa, took about 3 weeks but I went though a lawyer as well
For my recent renewal (work visa) I put in my application on September 19 and picked up my new card on November 22. So, two months or so.
