Hydroponic farming and selling it in a restaurant, feasible?

This probably sounds pretty random but I’ve been hydroponic farming with very good results for years in America.

I am part Japanese so getting a visa is possible.

I’ve read that farming regulations are more difficult than many other countries, but doable, but I have no idea if/how that applies to hydroponics and related systems.

Margins from hydroponic farming are worse than many people realize. It’s also very easy, which is why it occured to me that the best way to monetize might be to open a restaurant and provide some of my own ingredients instead of selling directly, as there is enough time to do both things. But there are so many regulations around everything in Japan that I have no idea if such a thing is even possible there or how to go about pursuing such an unusual idea.

Edit: To help clarify, I’m wondering if it’s legal because of the JAA etc.

  2. What are your specific questions? If your question is, “is it possible”, well, almost anything is. If you’re asking if you can grow your own food and sell it in a restaurant, yes, you can do that.

  3. Where I work there used to be a Subway sandwich shop that hydroponically grew their own lettuce.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t grow enough to cover their usage though and so still had to buy lettuce from a supplier.

Still, it was nice to see growing things when I went down there.

    From the article:
    >The venture isn’t exactly making Subway extra cash–the hydroponic lettuce costs twice as much as the refrigerated variety, according to InventorSpot. And the vegetable factory only produces 5% of what the shop needs.

  4. Almost anything is feasible.

I’d search for hydroponic farms and reach out to them. If you can get a visa on your own means, you might get hired easier (if you find a good match).
