It’s been a few years since I’ve been, so I don’t have specifics but please be careful driving. It gets dark early, the snow is never fully cleared and the roads are winding. It’s beautiful and we had a great time, I’m sure you will too!
Who will be driving? We spent a week in Hokkaido in October. I was the driver (Irish so drive on same side as Japan). I was wrecked at the end of each day. Most days we got back to house around 4.30 because it’s not fun driving on country roads with no street lights.
Almost came a cropper on way to Lake Akan from Obihiro when a deer ran out in front of us.
Not trying to put you off but be prepared to cut some of your itinerary out.
