I’m planning a day trip to use the onsen and have some questions on it.
Based on my research, it seems like the travelling goes by:
Tokyo > Jomokogen (shinkansen)
Jomokogen > Minakami (local train)
And theres two options of free shuttle bus services from either JR Jomokogen or minakami station.
I was wondering how to reserve as reservations for the bus are done via phone and I can’t call japanese numbers. The website only allows reservations for the ryokan stay in there.
Alternatively, google maps has shown me that i can make my way there by
Minakami > Takaragawa Iriguchi
Then walk 1.7km to the onsen
Not sure if this route is viable :0
Has anyone been to this onsen before? Any help/advice appreciated!

From their website (haven’t been there in person), the bus from JR could be local bus. It’s all non-reserved seat.
And some hotels also have free shuttle bus from JR to there. you can reserve it after booking a room.
