What happens if I’m not in the country when my new spousal visa becomes available?

So my visa has expired the 5th of the month and applied for a new one a little over a month ago. I’m expecting to receive the postcard informing me my visa is ready any day not but I’m wondering if I’ll get it prior to leaving the country. I’m scheduled to fly out of Japan the 16th of this month and won’t be back till May. I imagine my visa will be revoked but am unsure.

  1. It would suck to have to apply for new certificate of eligibility because you couldn’t wait to receive your new visa.

You could apply for a special re-entry permit beyond the current visa expiration, but it would have to be for a valid reason. But that does nothing for your visa application process.

You have a two month auto extension from the time you submit your application.

Here’s hoping come Monday you don’t have anything to worry about.
