Hey i’m leaving Japan in 10 days to finish college then moving back. I need to close my JP post account before I leave but the problem is is that I get my last paycheck the day I leave. Is there any way to close the account online? From what i see i need to go to the office with a Hanko and all that but I never even used one to open the acc to begin with, it was all done online.

Thank you for contacting JP Post customer service.
Why not keep it if you are coming back? It’s not like it cost you anything. You can update the address and phone number when you are back.
why would you want to close it?
When will you be returning?
You need to fill a paper online with a garant (cannot think of a better word sorry), leave your Hanko to that person and they will close it for you in person at JP post bank, there’s no online doing for it so I believe. For your pay check, if it’s a small company and you explain your situation they might be able to pay you before your departure day.
I opened a JP bank account ten years ago as a student, then left it open and started using it again when I cam back years later. All I did was provided ID and my new address, and in a couple of weeks it was up and running again (my signature had changed in the interim, so that needed verifying).
If you have a Wise account and someone can do a bank transfer 振込み to the bank specified by Wise then you can transfer the money out of Japan.
