I gotta get outta here!

I need to escape from everything. I feel isolated, blocked, stuck, useless, and just used. Where should I go to get away from everything?

  1. weather is good this weekend, go for a hike in nature, put things into perspective, reassess next steps, gl

  2. Make a day with zero commitments. Ideally tomorrow or Sunday, since it sounds like you’re not doing well.

    Spend the first part of the day doing some things you enjoy. A sport you like, or watching a movie you’ve always wanted to see. Eat lunch at your favorite restaurant.

    Then, switch it up. Spend the afternoon doing new things, getting out of your comfort zone as much as you can. Things you’ve always wanted to try, or something totally random that will make for a good story later. Eat dinner at a new place you’ve never tried before.

    At night, try to find an activity with people. Strangers are fine, friends are great if you can get some on short notice. Meetup is good for this, but there’s other options. Just spend some time not thinking about the stuff that’s stressing you.

  3. Get off the internet and touch grass.

    JK, go for a walk, walk until you feel really tired.
    It’ll be better.

  4. Get on a bike and head out into some greenery or ride along by the sea/lake. It’ll change your feeling very quickly.
    Just gotta get a bike first.

  5. I went for a long drive today to visit some places I’d not been to. Nothing extraordinary, but it did the trick to refresh me. Go for a bike ride or drive if you can. Get out of the city if you can. *Hugs

  6. Sounds like a Paul McCartney song..

    Just relax, and think about your future as you fly out of Japan, you tried it but, not for you.

    No problem.

  7. Go to the inaka and let nature heal you. Regain your energy and evaluate what steps you will take next.

  8. Assuming you aren’t already, I find that taking a local train a couple hours into the DEEP countryside (I’m talking rice fields as far as the eye can see, or endless forests etc) and taking a long quiet slow walk with me and myself can really calm the mind. Breath in, breath out, that sort of thing.

  9. Hard truth here: If you feel that here, you’ll feel like that anywhere.

    The problem isn’t with Japan, it’s with you. Japan can’t fix it, leaving Japan can’t fix it.

    But *you* can fix it. Good luck OP.

  10. Me too, that’s why I am in huge depression. What really helping me is going to psychiatrist, taking heavy medications, took long term disability leave that shakai hoken and your company could still pay part of your salary and since I didn’t want to get out of my bed, I found a community of one of the games that I liked to play and they are not toxic.

    Another thing that is helping me is writing on my iPhone reminder app small things like:

    * make laundries
    * make my nails
    * buy coffee and cigarettes

    Then now I can do bigger things like:

    * ask my friend to help me with permanent visa
    * call my mother
    * studying programming
    * ask my psychiatrist how to become more feminine And so on. I am still not recovered but I am better than three months ago. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

  11. Influenza has been pretty interesting the past four days or so. Can’t wait to go back to normal.

  12. enlist

    there are many places in the world where you can go, and enlist for either of the opposing parties, and experience action

  13. Look: It’s kinda almost winter and days are dark. Find some hobbies to keep yourself occupied. Also, stay sober. Alcohol just exacerbates any emotional issues you’re dealing with. I just completely quit drinking a couple weeks ago, and cold turkey is a lot less delicious than it sounds. Someone also posted a phone number for a crisis line if you need it too, so you can get help if things are looking bleak.
