I know this is a bit niche but I’m going to Tokyo for 10 days and I’m looking for recommendations for shops that specialize in audio gear like microphones, field recorders, interfaces, etc

I work at a game company making sound effects and there’s several things that are hard to find in the US that I hope to find in Japan and with the dollar being strong right now I’m excited to pick up some gear if I can!

Any recommendations for shops, big or small for audio gear?

Not looking for music gear but there is some overlap sometimes

  1. Sounds like you should check the Akihabara Electronics market area. There must be some specialist shops there. Yodobashi is one such massive electronics store, with 10 floors of stuff.

  2. Yodobashi and E-earphones in Akihabara have everything you’d ever see in your lifetime.

  3. Fujiya Avic in Nakano Broadway might have some cool stuff. I went there for headphones and they had a killer selection of new and used stuff.
