What should I look for in a Mamachari when terrain is steep

Hello! I live behind a mountain that separates me from the main city, there is a road that goes around the mountain but is still quite steep for me to casually bike on. I’ve decided I should go with a bike that is battery assisted but am quite lost on what specific trait I should be looking for when picking out a bike. How would one pick a “powerful” bike that will make that uphill ride a breeze? Thank you in advance!

  1. each shop you go to will have a catalog of bikes that cater for different uses. Just describe this post to them and they’ll guide you on what will work best for your situation

The bike manufacturer usually has some indication of how much power it has like Yamaha which shows how many stars it has.

I have one with 4 out of 6 stars and its fine for most hills and you can pedal up a hill without having to stand on the pedals on a steep hill like you would with a non battery assisted bike.

If you’re thinking about riding long distance look for a battery pack of at least 12 amps or greater, mine has a 12 amp battery and the max it can go on eco mode is around 70 kilometers & the range is barely enough for me to get to Tokyo from Kashiwa which is around 30-35km away but it’s just barely enough.

If all you’re doing is close rides then I wouldn’t worry so much about capacity.
