Get a Japanese phone number for OTP verification while being oversea.

Hi everyone,

In late-March 2024 I’ll go to Japan as an exchange student for 6 months. Being an avid idol fan, I plan to attend (or at least try) the Hinatazaka46’s 5th anniversary live. The dates and ticket sales periods were revealed today, so I am currently trying to set everything up to be ready to enter the fan club lottery, the first round being in a week’s time.

Here’s my problem : It seems that a tixplus account is required, and in order to be to get or use tickets, you have to register your device via OTP verification \*\*using a Japanese number\*\*.

Unfortunately, since I am not yet in Japan, I don’t have a Japanese number, my phone doesn’t support eSIM and I have no Japanese friends to lend me their number.

I’ve also thought of ordering a physical SIM, and sending it all the way to my country (France) by tenso, but it looks like a very shaky solution, which would end up being pretty expensive and might not be ready in time.

Do you know any other solution to get a Japanese phone number? Apart from asking tons of random people until someone lends their number 😂

Thanks for your help

  2. Getting a Japanese phone number requires you to have a resident card. Without that you won’t be getting one.
