Staying in Asakusa was the best part of my recent Tokyo trip. Here are what I love about the Asakusa district:
\- Beautiful temple and shrines open 24/7 within walking distance
\- Quiet, walkable neighborhood with many traditional buildings
\- Easy access to Tokyo’s center of otaku culture, Akihabara
\- Train station is the terminal stop for Ginza and Asakusa line, making it easier to find place to sit or stand
I know this is a silly question, but is there a similar area in Kansai region, preferably in Osaka?
After reading through the FAQ, would the Osaka Castle area offer the most similar atmosphere? I know the castle and shrines are not 24/7, but the neighborhood looks quiet, and it is just one train ride from Denden town, within walking distance if I need to burn calories.
Another idea is to stay in Kyoto instead, but that is far from Denden town, and Kyoto is less convenient as home base for trips to Nara and Kobe. I also read that Kyoto is less quiet than parts of Osaka.
Thank you very much for your kind advice.
By the way, I am an old man who goes to bed at 9 pm, so there is no need to have access to night life. The last thing I want is staying at an area like the Osaka equivalent of Shinjuku.
