Is this sushi box worth it?

My girlfriend and I are thinking of buying this sushi box but it costs $70. Before we decide to buy we want to know if it’s worth the price tag.

Here’s what it comes with:
10 nigiris, salmon and tuna hosomakis, spicy tuna temaki, unagi temaki, and 15 sushi rolls

  1. Depends although I’m not usuallly a fan of sushi to go. Seaweed absorbs rice moisture and gets soggy. Rice gets cold and can dry out a little.

  2. Keep in mind that in some very rare occasions, the food served does not look exactly like the picture presented. As long as you are ok with that and being 70 dollars poorer I would say go for it!

  3. I would argue that any sushi place that does a spicy tuna roll, or rolls in general, I would be skeptical of their nigiri. They are charging top shelf nigiri prices only putting 10 nigiri.

  4. Most places around me charge 5-6 per order of nigiri (2 pieces), so that’s like $30 worth of nigiri. I’d say the rest is about $40 worth as well. Seems right to me

  5. Yes. I pay $30 USD all the time for 2-things of grocery store sushi, for half the amount, and it never looks good as this.

  6. Place by me has a Chefs Choice of 18 pieces of nigiri and 2 rolls (Cali and tuna, 6 pieces each) for about $38. That would be about 3/4 of this platter. The nigiri is really great and totally worth it. If all the fish is really fresh then it’s probably worth it if you want to splurge on a nice dinner. If this is an online order, it probably has at least a ~$10 upcharge tacked on. This would be about $50 where I’m at

  7. I’d say no. You can go to a buffet and eat a lot of they sushi for $30 for 2 people in most places

  8. If the box you get LOOKS like that, it’s reasonably priced. I’d go to Yelp and look for photos from customers to see.

The quality of that fish looks pretty good. The salmon and tuna rolls are generous on fish. The quality and prep overall is not world-class, but it’s better than average.

  9. Thanks everyone for the replies. I live in Venezuela, specifically the capital. Everything is a little overpriced here in general. But I will take your advice into consideration.

  10. You can get more for so much cheaper but remember you get what you pay for and it’s usually meh quality. If it’s good quality that’s decent but not good quality

  11. Ok, I see 4 basic rolls at 7-9 bucks each. Two hand rolls at 6 bucks each, a seaweed salad for a few bucks and a dozen pieces of sushi at 2 bucks each. Def worth it, I am undervaluing

  12. If its a decent quality fish I would say so. Usually nigiri for me is like 7-10 dollars per 2 so just with that youve got a good worth.
