Moving to Kobe for work

Hello,

I am from the Philippines and I have recently been offered a job in Kobe, particularly in ANA Crowne Plaza. I am seriously considering to relocate but I have no friends or relatives who live near to ask about living arrangements there. Would really appreciate any input you can provide with my following questions:

1. My work is located in Chuo, but I heard that apartments around the area tend to be quite expensive. Are there relatively cheaper options in neighboring wards? I am definitely willing to have roommates and live in shared spaces. Any suggestions on where to start looking?
2. I’m not sure if this is feasible but do you recommend staying in Osaka then commuting daily to Kobe?
3. How much would you say is the estimated cost of living of a single male staying in a 1LDK apartment in Kobe?
4. This one is a bit more general, what would you say are some important considerations in moving to Japan, specifically Kobe?

  2. In Japan many employers will cover the cost of commuting, effectively subsidizing a move to an area with cheaper housing. The question is whether you find the exchange of time/stress for money valuable.
