Hello, I’ve been interested in teaching English in Japan and am a CELTA graduate. I was recently offered a position with Interac with a monthly salary of 215,000 yen. This seems significantly lower than other companies, and I wonder if this pay is ‘liveable’ given current inflationary trends. I had interviews with Altia (240,000 yen) and ECC (275,000) yen but did not get either. I’m sorry if this question seems naive, but I’m trying to get a range of perspective on the current situation there; my Japanese friend living in Nagoya told me that Altia’s pay was not good, so 215,000 sounds obviously worse.
