Localising accents within the context of a specific time period into English

EDIT: I meant to say “dialects” instead of “accents” in the title but it’s too late to change now woops

I’m currently trying to translate a manga set within the Heian period (in 960), and there’s a conversation happening between three characters. Two of them are using Kyoto dialect, while the third is using *wago* (he gets specifically called out for using “Yamato-ben” despite being in Kyoto)

I’d love to know how people would localise these differences into English. I’m not sure how to approach it – would Kyoto dialect be seen as formal, even within the Heian period? Would *wago* be seen as very formal, informal, overly flowery or old-fashioned? Status is something that comes up with the *wago* character, so I’d like to know if and how his speech reflects that.
