IB Educator Certificate vs Master’s Degree: What are the pros and cons of each?

TLDR: Title

I’m at that point wondering what I should do to level up my qualification game so one day I can have a more comfortable teaching job after teaching here for 5 years.

From what I understand, Master’s Degrees are:

\- for if you want to teach at a university
\- prohibitively expensive
\- probably the more prestigious qualification overall.

However IB certs are:

\- for if you want to teach at an international school but not a university
\- much more affordable and generally quicker
\- totally fine if your end goal is an international school job.

I’d like to hear what other points everyone has accumulated over the years. University teaching does seem really nice, but I’m also not sure if getting a Master’s Degree would be enough to land me a job. I don’t have an undergrad degree in English, ESL, Teaching, etc. though, like I said before, I do have 5 years experience so that’s something.

Right now I’m looking at the Tamagawa Online IB Educator Certification which is one year and 400,000円. For me personally, a university job does seem a little nicer overall, but I don’t mind international school at all since it’s such a step up from Eikaiwa life, and seems like an IB cert is much more achievable. What kinds of benefits come with university jobs, and is the pay significantly better than international school jobs? Thanks so much for the help everyone.
