  1. Hey guys, been in JP for 12 years and had my fair share of sushi. I never seen sushi cake until 2 weeks ago. [Here is my previous post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/sushi/comments/v8715q/been_in_japan_for_12_years_first_time_seeing/) You guys got me curious in trying this out! So I decided to swing by again and pick one up… here is what I thought.

I didn’t like it. The fish quality itself was good, the amount of fish you get versus the rice in your mouth was awkward. The rice is also too cold which sort of makes it feel like I’m eating a chirashi sushi that has been sitting in the fridge for half a day. I had to take the thing apart to dip it in soy sauce and it doesn’t hold well, so it just falls apart. Overall, I do not recommend! My wife says they only really see sushi cake in events and parties in Japan which I didn’t know!

[My friends trying out the sushi cake](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FESM98mqQJM&t=2s), 2 of them loves sushi and 2 of them don’t like sushi at all.
