Tips for Getting Back Into it (N3/2)

After a year long hiatus, I think I’m finally ready to start studying again. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions for me?

I lived in Japan for four years and studied up to N3 (passed in 2022 with around 80%). Not an impressive feat by any means, but I found the experience quite rewarding.

Just over a year ago, I moved back to my home country and, gradually, my study habits have completely fallen off…

When I was actively studying, I used a combination of textbooks, flashcards, Anki, iTalki lessons, and casual immersion (oxymoron, I know…). I still have a lot of these materials around, but it would mostly be review. I think I’m looking for something fresh.

Going forward, I’m looking to spend about an hour a day studying and I would like to try N2 at the end of 2024 (just to have a measurable target). I’m much more concerned about input and general comprehension as I don’t have many people to practice the language with.

What do you guys think would be the best use of my one hour a day?

Also, what can I do about kanji? I feel like any app or Anki deck I use would be painfully redundant for the first few weeks.

I appreciate if you’ve read this far and have some advice/word of encouragement 🙂
