Hello!
I’m currently a 2nd year uni student in the UK and have just been offered a year abroad in Japan. Obviously this is probably the most amazing opportunity ever but wanted to hear some advice from people who have studied abroad in Japan coming from western countries. My main concern is the language and making friends there, I will definitely learn enough Japanese to have basic conversations but there’s no chance of me becoming fluent enough to make proper friendships with non-english speakers. There are other students on the program from UK, USA and other European countries but only a handful. The last thing I want on my year abroad is for this to limit my experience and the friends that I make. Can anyone who has been through a similar situation share their experience?
Would love to hear any other helpful advice too or anyone else’s experience studying in Japan!
