My parents are visiting me in Japan for the first time in four years (yay) next week. I’m taking them all across the country, but we will spend a few days in Kyoto. Now, I went to Kyoto during the GoTo travel and got to visit basically every temple and shrine with no visitors, so my experience is a bit biased. Additionally, since the sun sets at like 4:30 these days, we will probably do some sightseeing while it’s “dark.”
That said, what are some of your best experiences places at night in Kyoto. I plan on taking them to Fushimi Inari at night and also the Kyoto tower, but do you have any other recommendations? Are there any cool nighttime events/features at specific shrines or places, particularly in December? For example, Kanazawa Castle park had a special light up event in collaboration with team labs last month, which was cool.
I have like two free nights not planned out there, so any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
