Question regarding valid documents for marriage/visa in Japan, while both parties are living abroad.

Hello, me and my fiance are trying to get all of our paper work organized to finalize our marriage in Japan. She is living in Japan and I am living in the US. Today I received the marriage registration forms (婚姻届) from her. When I send these back I have to send all the other required documents for both my visa and for the marriage finalization.

Of those required documents I now have:

1. Proof of voyage to Japan (airline tickets)
2. Diploma
3. Passport
4. Proof of current bank account balance
5. Resume
6. Birth Certificate

**What I was particularly confused about** were the the two documents, one to prove that I am single/eligible to marry, and the other to prove that I am a citizen of the United States. The Affidavit of Eligibility to Marry can be obtained at an embassy, but she told me that I could also get proof that I am currently single from a county office (town hall or bureau of health and statistics?) I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on the latter because the nearest embassy to me is about 3 hours away by car.

Concerning the proof of citizenship, what I have now should suffice right? The reason I am doubting this is because my fiance says that it needs to specifically say that I am a citizen of the US, and the document itself needs to have been produced within the last 6 months. Getting a new birth certificate isn’t the problem, but rather having it state word for word that I am a citizen was what I was concerned about (knowing how strict Japanese paper can be). When I did research about a “proof of citizenship” document, the only thing I had come across was something for someone who had been born in Japan but had an American parent.
