I used to sell a lot on eBay back in the day before they started reporting to the IRS (tax bureau) if you make over a certain amount. However, when the rule went into effect I changed to selling solely in Japan. It’s not a large amount but helps offset our low pay here…
Since the yen is so weak, we wanted to sell some of our goods on eBay under my wife’s account, but if we sell over a certain amount will eBay report it to the Japanese tax bureau? We sell items on Yahoo Auctions sometimes and the yearly amount is around 500,000円 (but if you add in how much is spent on the items plus Yahoo Auction fees, it is only roughly 25-50% profit.)
