Any way to get a copy of documents submitted to the immigration?

Hi,

OK, I assume this one is “NO”, but asking anyway. Is there any way to ask for a copy of the documents I gave to the immigration back in 2007 when I applied for my first “spouse or child of Japanese national” resident permit?

I’m trying to help a friend getting through the process and each time he’s asking me “did you have to submit this or that” or “how did you fill this or that” I’m like… err… I forgot >\_<
