What’s the most amount of attempts you’ve heard or known about someone applying for JET and been rejected before being accepted?

What I mean is what is the most number of times it took for someone to be rejected before being accepted?

I’ve seen a number of YouTube videos about the JET program, and one of the most frequently pieces of advice I’ve heard on these videos from JET alumni and current ALTs is:

“DON’T stop trying…keep applying until you get accepted…my friend’s cousin’s sister got accepted into JET after 3 or 4 years of applying, etc.

But is this really good advice? While JET sounds like an excellent opportunity, I’m not sure if it’s worth applying year after year long after you graduated college and putting your life on hold.

What do you guys think?
