Japan court denies retrial for 95-yr-old woman over 1979 murder

   We joke about living in a third world country (fax machines etc) but every time I hear a story about someone suffering through the legal system, I automatically assume the authorities are trying to protect their (almost) unblemished records of conviction or their reputation.
