Maiximising income while working as a teacher in Japan

I’m close to finishing my second year at a Japanese university studying education. Until now, I always thought I’d be happy working as teacher regardless of the pay but I’m starting to change my mind. The reality of wanting to live a relatively comfortable life while working in a country where I cant rely on my family whatsoever on a single teacher’s salary kinda slapped me in the face. So recently I am thinking about opting for another line of work but Id like to know what I can do to maximize my income if I do end up becoming a teacher. 就活 starts next year and going back home is one of the last things I would like to do so I would appreciate any advice.

\- I passed N2 about 2 years ago but my Japanese level is probably closer to N1 by now.

\- I will get a teacher’s license (中・高) by the end of my program.

\- I am not a native english speaker but I do have 12+ of education imparted in english

Edit just for clarification: I have not worked as an ALT and do not intend to become one.
