Permanent Residency explanation letter

I am on a spouse visa and am in the process of going for PR.
At one point my wife dropped off my company insurance for the purpose of applying for unemployment benefits.
She then went back on my insurance.
Immigration wants an explanation letter explaining why there is only 1 year of documents showing she paid the national health insurance system.

Does anybody have any info on the best format for this letter?
Or will a simple word document be fine?

  1. A simple word document should be sufficient. I’m confused too though. But they’re just asking for you to write an explanation not an official form.

  2. My wife was on maternity leave so we had a similar problem because her income was 0 for the year but I anticipated the issue and attached an explanation to my application. Lo and behold, at first they said it was okay then they asked me to send an explanation letter again (?!) to which I just copy pasted the content of the first letter and this time it passed no problem lol
Bottom line: immigration is stupid and they like meaningless bureaucracy. Just send them few lines of explanation on a piece of paper and sign it/hanko it. In my case I used a greenish filler page cause I didn’t have a copy yoshi at hand and the letter was hand written so I guess any format is fine as long as the content is understandable.
