Smoked and soy sauce cured egg yolk on top of mazesoba (mixing ramen) at Menson Rage in Tokyo

  1. This was one of 2 bowls I had at Menson Rage in Tokyo recently.

    The mazesoba (mixing noodles), is a regular menu item at Menson Rage. The noodles are medium thick with a good chew. The seasoning is mainly sitting at the bottom of the bowl, so it requires a good mix to get it dispersed all over your noodles. The obvious highlight of the bowl is the smoked and cured egg yolk. It has an intense smokiness, saltiness and creaminess at the same time. If really enhances and enriches the bowl in a way that I have not seen anywhere else so far. Almost a must try, if you are going for a second bowl at Menson Rage, or for your first and only if you are big into mazesoba.
