Can I get PR from Spouse Visa if living separately?

As per title. My wife an I are going through a rough time, and it’s really negatively impacting the kids. I am about to request a PR in case we decide to get divorced (to stay with the kids) but meanwhile I was considering living in another apartment (nearby… again, for the kids) to release the tension.I know PR applications take 6 months, and they would be very, very rough 6 months if we kept living in the same space that long.

Do I need to change my address immediately if I move a couple blocks away? Also, if I do, can I justify this to immigration stating kids are noisy and I find it hard to work at home (I work from home)?

EDIT: a lot of people are letting me know PR can take longer than 6 months.Does it make sense to request a long-term resident visa instead? Anyone did in less time? I just want to be able to stay near my kids

Also: Does the 1 year in japan for PR need to be continuous? I can’t stay here in the heat of summer for health reasons, so every year so far I left for 3 months more or less
