Planning on doing a Work Holiday in Japan next year and working out the details. However I keep stumbling on how to deal with money as from my understanding you aren’t allowed to open up a bank account until you have lived in Japan for at least 6 months.
So how exactly do those under WHV get paid in Japan. Is it all just cash? I know Japan is cash heavy but this seems a bit off to me. Can you pay your rent at a share house in cash for example? What about other fixed costs like the health insurance you are required to take?
The 6 month in Japan restriction for banks seems to be a more recent thing and I can’t really find much about how to work around not having a bank account. Would really appreciate if anyone has some experience with this. Thanks in advance!
