Looking for advice as a 30 year old photographer/designer

I’m a roughly 30 year old designer and photographer who is currently considering a future in Japan. At this point I’m just trying to understand my options and possible next steps.

**Some info:**

* I would likely not be moving for at least 2 years
* Attended a college design program (no Bachelors)
* 10 years of work experience as a designer/photographer in a public sector position
* Currently around n4 level JLPT (aiming for n2 by the time I moved)
* Partner is Japanese (if I moved, it would be for marriage)
* Partner will probably be able to work fully remote
* I currently live in Canada

**My main questions:**

**1.** How much would it hurt my job hunt to not have a Bachelors?
*Design hiring is largely portfolio based but I’ve heard some mixed things about the importance of schooling in Japan.*

**2.** Would I have more luck finding a job if I transitioned into a tech position like UX/UI?

**3.** Is anyone aware of any resources where I could browse remote work opportunities (design and/or UX/UI) for people who are living in Japan?

Also if there is anyone currently in Japan who is working in design or UX/UI, I’d be happy to hear about your experience!

Thank you!
