Seeking Advice: Starting English Teaching as an Engineer Visa Holder

Hey everyone, I posted a few days ago about wanting a part-time job as an engineer visa holder, but unfortunately, I didn’t get permission from immigration. Now, I’m considering teaching English as a part-time gig, thinking it might be covered by my visa (ENGINEER / SPECIALIST in HUMANITIES / INTERNATIONAL SERVICES).

I’m not a native English speaker and lack confidence, so I’m seeking advice on starting. Apologies for my beginner’s knowledge.

1. I found TESOL/TEFL certifications online for around 5k yen, but in-class options in Tokyo are much pricier (200-300k yen). Are the certificates the same? What’s the advantage of the in-class option?

2. Can I secure a part-time teaching role with this certification? Is it a worthwhile pursuit? I previously applied for a teaching position but was rejected due to lacking experience in Japanese schools.

Any insights or advice on getting started would be greatly appreciated. Also, since my visa is ENGINEER / SPECIALIST in HUMANITIES / INTERNATIONAL SERVICES, do I still need permission from immigration? Thanks!
