Hi, I found in my house a few 10000 notes from the 80’s (Prince Shotoku image) , Japan has since stopped issuing that note and changed the design of the 10000 note.
What I don’t know is if this means that this money is no longer valid.

Go to the bank and ask them.
Invalidating physical currency in distribution is a pretty drastic measure. It’s extraordinarily rare for a country to do that.
Your old banknotes are still worth face value at the very least.
Yeah they are still legal tender.
In theory those should be valid, but bear in mind many shops will not accept them (partly because older notes are easier to forge; e.g. : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgH9UMhAah0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgH9UMhAah0) ).
The BoJ has a FAQ about validity: https://www.boj.or.jp/about/education/oshiete/money/c07.htm
Just put them in a ATM
Out of curiosity, how much money are we talking about? Like, if we take an average ALT salary, how many years would it take him to make that money?
