Japanese has many loan words, lots of them from Portuguese but…

I came across a tumblr page(s) the other day that had the following statement:

*fun fact: afaik, “-ne” was inherited from the Portuguese settlers/priests that stayed in Japan in the 16th century. It comes from “né?”, which the contraction of “não é?”, “isn’t it?”.*

Japanese is full of gairaigo, but I’ve never heard this before. I know we have some Brazilian Japanese speakers in this reddit so wondering if anyone can confirm the truth of this statement?
