  1. 10 years ago we were rebuilding our home after the tsunami, lots of delays because of a lack of concrete. There was a company we contracted with that our builder recommended, an all women firm, two daughters who had taken over the family business. All the cement trucks were pink and all of the drivers women. Contractors said that they were the best in northern Japan.

  2. Sometimes when I catch a cab I notice the driver is a woman. Never saw female taxi drivers in my home country (South Korea).

  3. I’ve been in Japan for close to 30years, and there has been women driving trucks since I arrived.

  4. I was in Japan from 96 to 99 and I remember the city hired its first woman public bus driver – that was pretty big news back then that was almost 30 years ago so figured this wouldn’t really be a news article in 2023 as it didn’t seem like it should be anything “new”.
