Happy New Year, everyone!
I have an appointment with a psychiatrist in a few weeks, but I’m a little unfamiliar with Japanese laws surrounding involuntary hospitalization and what implications (if any) treatment could have on my status of residence here (I’m sponsored through work).
I searched this subreddit/Google and found the procedures for involuntary hospitalization, but not a lot of information of considerations past that. Could seeking treatment for a mental health issue, either through hospitalization or through less restrictive means, have any adverse legal effects on my ability to renew my status and/or apply for PR in the future?
I haven’t found any information that would suggest this is even something I should be concerned about; I guess I’m just seeking reassurance from those who may have had experience with the Japanese mental health care system.
