I’m moving to Tokyo for work late March this year, and we anticipate a stint of 3 years. My two girls aged 7 & 5 are mixed race Japanese/Caucasian. They speak Japanese quite well, but realistically they would be a little behind kids of a similar age in Japan. We’re therefore looking to have them attend local kindergarten/public school to bolster their Japanese ability during this stint.
My request is for any recommendations for public schools and/or kindergartens within 30 mins of Shinjuku. Conversely, if you know of any places to avoid, please also let me know.
I’m a little worried about the prospect of them being bullied, on account of their mixed-race appearance. Any anecdotes you may have would be greatly appreciated.
We’re currently looking at apartments along the Toei Oedo line.
